There are ways to make the most of the limited time available to travelers in New York. It takes at least three days to really see the highlights (although you could take a “quick” tour on a two-day New York itinerary). However, I suggest 4 to 5 days to see the main sights without rushing too fast. Obviously, with just 2 days in New York, there's a limit to what to see and do.
We've designed this itinerary to be as logical as possible, so you spend more time sightseeing and visiting attractions and less time traveling from one place to another. Enjoying a beautiful night view of Manhattan from the Top of the Rock observation deck is the best way to end your 3-day New York City itinerary. I hope your trip to New York was otherwise excellent, and I'm glad that you found the itinerary otherwise good. Arguably one of the most famous train stations in the world, Grand Central Terminal is primarily a commuter train station that takes passengers to Manhattan from upstate New York City.
The best thing to do is to make the most of the 7 or so days you have there, knowing that you'll come back in the future and work on your next list of “things to see and do” while you're there. I have a guide to Niagara Falls, but I think it would also be better to spend all four days in New York, as there is so much to do. Once you're on the boat, you'll take a quick trip to Liberty Island, where you can jump for a walk around the famous statue and even climb the observation deck if you wish. Nearly everything is included, and at the time of writing this article, the New York Pass offers free admission to more than 100 attractions in the city.
In the evening, return to the Village to visit one of the many (expensive) speakeasies in New York, such as Employees Only or Please Don't Tell. Head to the New York Public Library and stop by the iconic sights (the Chrysler & Empire State Building) to admire the architecture. Regardless of your plans for a trip to the Big Apple, you can't miss Central Park during your 3 days in New York City. Feel free to adjust this itinerary to suit your particular interests: New York City truly has something for everyone.
As one of the major metropolitan cities, New York is obviously well-connected and it's easy to find free WiFi while wandering around the city. Despite how crazy, hectic, and noisy New York City is, there is a certain sense of calm when you look at the sprawling city from high in the sky.
